Went to Galveston over the weekend to watch my mommy’s (yes, that is her pictured above) half iron man. She pretty much kicked butt, placed third in her age group and even beat the 20-something year old boy on her team.

Less glamorous pic, trying to squeeze into her wet suit.
Her swim went swimmingly, she was first place coming off the bike, the only minor hiccup was on the run. Running 13 miles in the Texas sun is no picnic, especially when you leave your salt pills on your bike. Luckily, my mother is very resourceful and she noticed someone else dropped their salt pills on the ground, so she just took those. She makes me so proud sometimes!
It was truly inspirational to watch her compete, made me miss swimming just a teensy bit. I think I will join a master’s team when I get to Chicago. As for my own triathlete ambitions? No thanks, best leave it to the maternal unit for now, I am no where near that tough.
Oh…and side note, Lance Armstrong was also competing in the same race. He beat her by quite a bit, but I still think it’s pretty neat that my mom was in the same race as Lancey Pants.
