HP Distractions!

19 Apr

Last week at my job and of course I am finding plenty of random distractions.  Lina was kind enough to send me this website where you can make little Harry Potter dress up dolls. Of course I made on of Malfoy.  Isn’t he cute????!

Edit: Totally forgot to give homeboy shoes, oooooh well.

It’s the FINAL COUNTDOWN!

10 Apr

Less than two weeks left at my current job and less than three weeks in Austin!  So many things to do and emotions to ignore!

My best friend and bride to be Emily is coming to visit me this weekend, we shall gorge ourselves on cookie dough and Hilary Duff movies and it will be glorious.

To all my fellow Austinites out there I need help compiling a bucket list of must do things in Austin before I leave—right now Hamilton Pool and eating disgusting amounts of barbeque are at the tippy top.

Let’s go bust some punks!

Why are all of my favorite shows only one or two seasons long?  Firefly? Fruits Basket?  And now, The Good Guys!

Discovered this little gem last Thursday on Netflix and like it so much I finished watching all 20 episodes five days later.  I don’t even want to waste time you should be spending watching this show explaining it to you.  Basically it is Colin Hanks and that dude from Billy Madison and West Wing fighting crime.

The fact that this show was cancelled after just one season makes me sad.  I mean what other show out there has righteous mustaches, witty one liners, gun fights, explosions, a Trans Am, and a snitch (not the golden one from Harry Potter, an informant).

PLUS! it takes place in Texas so y’all know I love it.

Triath-a-mommy!

3 Apr

Went to Galveston over the weekend to watch my mommy’s (yes, that is her pictured above) half iron man.  She pretty much kicked butt, placed third in her age group and even beat the 20-something year old boy on her team.

Less glamorous pic, trying to squeeze into her wet suit.

Her swim went swimmingly, she was first place coming off the bike, the only minor hiccup was on the run.  Running 13 miles in the Texas sun is no picnic, especially when you leave your salt pills on your bike.  Luckily, my mother is very resourceful and she noticed someone else dropped their salt pills on the ground, so she just took those.  She makes me so proud sometimes!

It was truly inspirational to watch her compete, made me miss swimming just a teensy bit.  I think I will join a master’s team when I get to Chicago.  As for my own triathlete ambitions?  No thanks, best leave it to the maternal unit for now, I am no where near that tough.

Oh…and side note, Lance Armstrong was also competing in the same race.  He beat her by quite a bit, but I still think it’s pretty neat that my mom was in the same race as Lancey Pants.
